Mark/Jane,

As you know, when you add or move an item in Paper Tiger, the system chooses the first available open item. The instructions are a little different depending on if you are using Paper Tiger desktop version or Paper Tiger Online. Please see below for the version you are using.

For Paper Tiger Desktop Version:
If your Item # 1 is open (or wherever you want to move the item is open, follow instructions below. Keep in mind that Paper Tiger chooses the first available open item, which means that if you want to move Item # 8 to Item # 6, but Item # 1 is available, Paper Tiger will choose to move Item # 8 to Item # 1)

  1. Highlight the row of the item you want to move it from. (in your example, highlight Item #8)
  2. Click on the Transfer button. The Transfer Wizard will pop up.
  3. Click on the Summary tab.
  4. Click on the Move radio button.
  5. Select the drop-down box, then choose the Location. (this can be the same Location)
  6. Choose whether you want to Require Confirmation or not.
  7. Choose a new Action Date if desired.
  8. Click the Transfer button.
  9. If you chose to require confirmation, you will need to click on the Confirm box. Check to make sure the item is going from and to the correct place. Then confirm or cancel the move.

For Paper Tiger Online:

This is a bit of a work-around, since currently it is not allowed to move an Item within the same Location. Using your example to move Item # 8  within the same Location to Item #1

  1. Click on Item # 1 that is open, and Edit the item to input an Item Name and save changes. (can be any name at this point)
  2. Click the check-box to the left of Item # 8.
  3. Click the Transfer button in upper right, then choose merge.
  4. In the first drop-down box, choose the New Location.
  5. In the second drop-down box, choose the name of the Item # 1
  6. Choose whether you want to Require Confirmation or not.
  7. Click Merge These Files.
  8. A merge box will pop-up. Type in the new Item Name, make any changes/additions to the keywords, notes, category or action date sections.
  9. Choose Merge Item.
  10. If you chose to require confirmation, you will need to click on the Confirm box. Check to make sure the item is going from and to the correct place. Then confirm or cancel the merge.

Hopefully, this makes sense! Thank you!
