Copy the Backup of database(s) from your Old system:
Please copy or archive the backup of the BAK files from the following location from your old system onto a flashdrive or CD. Click here to learn how the Database Backup Manager works to archive the database.
If you are using version 4.1.15 and above, you can find the database file at the following location:
“C:\PaperTiger PTXXXX41 DBBackups”
If you have older versions of 4.1 (i.e. 4.1.09/4.1.11/4.1.12), you can find the backup file at the following locations:
“C:\Program Files\The Monticello Corporation\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Backup”
Below are the directions to install Paper Tiger in the new system:
Install Paper Tiger professional software/SQL Server 2005 Instance. You can find the latest build by going to our software update page. On that page you will need to select the product edition and build version that you have to receive links to the pertinent installation documents for each version (Basic, Professional, and Network) of Paper Tiger Filing System Software.
1. Be sure to log on as the Windows Administrator (recommended) or with an account that has administrative rights (the Paper Tiger software must be installed by an Administrator)
2. Disable any anti-virus software along with any other running programs that may interfere with the installation process
3. Download and Save the latest installer
4. Click on the EXE to begin the setup process.
Note, when installing on Windows 7 or 8, you may see a couple of extra screens:
b. During installation you may see three screens for Program Compatibility Assistant. Just click "Run the program without getting help".
5. Progress with setup normally.
6. Restart the system if prompted.
You will need your serial number.
Please get all the BAK files from the old system that you copied or archived and restore them in the new system, so that you can use the Old data.
Restore the BAK file:
1. Select Database Backup Manager from the File menu
2. Click the Restore Archive File button
3. Browse to and open the specific BAK file which you copied from the Old system.
4. From the top window (Backup Files), select the newly restored backup file.
5. Click the Restore Database button. A confirmation window appears asking if you chose the correct database restore point.
6. Click 'Yes' to begin the restore process.
After successful installation of Paper Tiger in the new system, you can uninstall Paper Tiger from the Old system.
Below are the directions to uninstall XXXX version 4.1 in the Old system:
I) Uninstall Paper Tiger XXXX version 4.1.X:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Click Start, then click Control Panel).
2. Open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features
3. From the listing, select "The Paper Tiger XXXX 4.1".
4. Click Change/Remove or Right-click the entry and select Uninstall
5. Follow all prompts to complete the process.
II) After uninstalling the Paper Tiger XXXX 4.1, remove the instance within the registry:
1. Start -> Run
2. Enter "regedit" and click OK
3. On the left pane, navigate to the following key (folder):
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings"
4. Under this key (folder), you will see the following key (folder):
“The Paper Tiger XXXX Version 4.1"
5. Right-click on key (folder) and select Delete.
6. Close the Windows Registry editor.
III.) Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Instance:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Click Start, then click Control Panel).
2. Open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features
3. From the listing, select "Microsoft SQL Server 2005".
4. Click Change/Remove or Right-click the entry and select Uninstall.
5. Select the PTXXXX41 (Database Engine) entry and click Next
6. Follow all prompts to complete the process.
Note: XXXX indicates the version Professional/Basic.
