Uninstall and Reinstall Paper Tiger

Below are the directions to uninstall XXXX version 4.1 in the Old system: 

First you will need to create a fresh back up or export of your current database.  Below are links that will provide you with step by step instructions on how to perform these actions successfully.

 

I.) Backup Up Paper Tiger XXXX version 4.1.X database:

1. Backing up your Database

3. Copy the Backup/Data Folders

Please copy or archive the backup folder containing the BAK files from the following location from your old system onto your desktop, a flashdrive or CD.  If you are using version 4.1.15 and above, you can find the database file at the following location:

“C:\PaperTiger PTXXXX41 DBBackups”

Proceed to copy your raw database files as a redundant way to secure you have your backups - Copy the entire Data Folder

“C:\Program Files\The Monticello Corporation\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Data”

 

II) Uninstall Paper Tiger XXXX version 4.1.X:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Click Start, then click Control Panel).

2. Open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features

3. From the listing, select "The Paper Tiger XXXX 4.1".

4. Click Change/Remove or Right-click the entry and select Uninstall

5. Follow all prompts to complete the process.

 

III) After uninstalling the Paper Tiger XXXX 4.1, remove the instance within the registry:

1. Start -> Run

2. Enter "regedit" and click OK

3. On the left pane, navigate to the following key (folder): 
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings"

4. Under this key (folder), you will see the following key (folder): 
“The Paper Tiger XXXX Version 4.1"

5. Right-click on key (folder) and select Delete.

6. Close the Windows Registry editor.

 

IV) Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Instance: 

1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Click Start, then click Control Panel).

2. Open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features

3. From the listing, select "Microsoft SQL Server 2005".

4. Click Change/Remove or Right-click the entry and select Uninstall.

5. Select the PTXXXX41 (Database Engine) entry and click Next

6. Follow all prompts to complete the process.

 

 

V) Below are the directions to install Paper Tiger in the new system: 

Install Paper Tiger software/SQL Server 2005 Instance. You can find the latest build by going to our software Download Manager page. On that page you will need to select the 4.1 product edition in which you are registered for to be able to select the installation software download or review technical instruction documents for each version of Paper Tiger Filing System Software. For example, if you are registered for Basic edition, choose 4.1 - The Paper Tiger Basic Edition. If you are registered for Professional edition, choose 4.1 - The Paper Tiger Professional Edition. If you are registered for Network edition, choose 4.1 - The Paper Tiger Network Edition. You will need your version 4 serial number.

Install Paper Tiger 4.1 Update:

1. Be sure to log on as the Windows Administrator (recommended) or with an account that has administrative rights (the Paper Tiger software must be installed by an Administrator) 

2. Disable any anti-virus software along with any other running programs that may interfere with the installation process 

3. Download and Save the latest installer (4.1.29) by going to the Products Download page:

4. Once the download is complete, run the EXE to begin the setup process.  (Click Here For Windows 8 Instructions)

Note, when installing on Windows 7 or 8, you may see a couple of extra screens:

5. Progress will setup normally. 

6. Restart the system if prompted.

7. Turn your anti-virus software back on after Paper Tiger has completed installation.

 

You will need your version 4 serial number.

Note: XXXX indicates the version Network/Professional/Basic.
